DESCRIPTION:On 30-31 October 2019\, the Robert Schuman Centre at the European University Institute in Florence will sponsor the first conference of the Cities\, Migration and Membership Research Platform. The workshop-like setting will further develop critical areas of focus for the Platform\, foster potential joint projects and initiatives\, as well help to set the research agenda on migration and cities in the 21st century. Scholars working on issues of migration in low and lower-middle income contexts are especially encouraged to apply.

SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:The Platform was seeded on 28 September 2018 at the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility at The New School in New York City. Against the backdrop of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly and the adoption of the Global Compacts on Migration and Refugees\, a small group of leading academics and practitioners gathered to examine the role of academia in making ‘migration work for all.’ The day of discussion culminated in establishing a platform that would allow members to share ideas\, collaborate on research\, and reach a broader audience to implement member recommendations.
